Kitchen cabinets sprayed in a soft grey satin

If your kitchen units are sound but the colour or finish is tired, spraying them is one of the best-value home improvements you can make. Here is what kitchen spraying costs in 2026.

How much does it cost to spray kitchen cabinets?

KitchenTypical London price
Small kitchen (up to 15 doors and drawers)£1,800 – £2,400
Medium kitchen (15 to 25)£2,400 – £3,200
Large kitchen (25 to 40)£3,200 – £4,500
Kitchen island only£650 – £1,200
New handles fittedfrom £8 per handle

Most kitchens are finished within a week. Doors and drawer fronts are usually sprayed off site in a booth, while the fixed units are sprayed in place with the room fully masked.

Spraying versus a new kitchen

A comparable new kitchen in London easily costs £15,000 to £30,000 once you add fitting, worktops and disruption. A respray keeps your worktops, appliances and layout, avoids weeks without a kitchen and usually costs a fifth to a third of the price. Spraying is not the answer if the carcasses are swollen, broken or badly laid out, but most kitchens we see are perfectly sound underneath.

What affects the price?

  • Number of doors, drawers and panels. The biggest factor.
  • Material. Solid wood, MDF and painted kitchens are straightforward; laminate and vinyl wrap need extra keying and a bonding primer.
  • Condition. Water damage, chips and peeling wrap need repairs first.
  • Colour. A big colour change can need an extra coat.
  • Extras. Islands, end panels, plinths, cornices and new handles.

How long does it last?

A properly prepared respray with a hard-wearing topcoat typically lasts 10 years or more. The preparation is what counts: degreasing, sanding, priming with a bonding primer and spraying thin, even coats. A cheap job that skips priming can chip within months.
