Complete decorating packages, delivered to the build programme

We are new build decorators for developers, housebuilders and main contractors across London and Surrey. Decorating a new build is a programme job: plots have to be ready in sequence, signed off first time and handed over for sale. Our directly employed teams take on the whole package, from mist coats on fresh plaster to show-home finishes and homeowner snagging, with one contracts manager from start to finish.

Spray finishing for speed

Airless spraying on larger programmes

On larger developments we spray walls and ceilings with airless equipment. It is much faster than rolling, gives an even, consistent finish across every plot and lets one team cover more units each week. Detail work is still done by hand. Read more about our spray finishing.

Hear it from a main contractor

Jamie Mills of Signature Build on working with our team across his building projects.

  • “Not only have they delivered a wonderful end product… but they also give an exceptional service.”

Jamie MillsOwner and managing director, Signature Build

    Read the transcript: Jamie Mills

My name is Jamie Mills, and I'm the owner and managing director of Signature Build. We've used Pro Plaster and Paint on a number of our projects over the last six months, and I'm happy to stand here today and give the guys Harry and Steven and the rest of the team a glowing testimonial, because not only have they delivered a wonderful end product, which is a fully decorated room at the standards at which we operate, but they also give an exceptional service.

Harry is always a real focus as to how the members of his team speak to the team, speak to the clients, speak to anyone in the project team, how they greet you, how they prepare the space, how they operate when working on a busy site, and how they conduct themselves generally. So that's something I always look out for as a really important indicator of someone who's doing a good job.

On all of our sites and all of our projects, we have subcontractors of various different shapes and sizes. What separates a good contractor to a great contractor is the way in which they collaborate, the way in which they communicate, and most importantly, the end product that they deliver.

And I've got no hesitation in recommending Pro Plaster and Paint, Harry, Steven and the team, in all the work that they've done for us, and I gladly would recommend them to other contractors, friends and family. So if you're thinking of using Pro Plaster and Paint, don't hesitate. Get in touch.

FAQ

New build decorating questions

How do you price new build decorating for developers?

We price per plot, per house type or as a lump sum from your drawings and specification, either labour only or supply and fix. Each quote sets out the paint system, the number of coats and what is included for snagging, so it is easy to compare.

How long does it take to decorate a new-build house?

A typical three or four-bedroom new-build house takes one team about five to eight working days from mist coat to final coats, depending on the specification and whether walls and ceilings are sprayed. Apartments are quicker. We plan the team sizes to suit your handover dates.

Do you do snagging after handover?

Yes. We complete our own snagging before each plot is offered for inspection, close out the developer’s or main contractor’s snags, and return for homeowner snagging after completion.

Why do new plaster walls need a mist coat?

New plaster is very absorbent. A mist coat, a thinned first coat of paint, soaks in and seals the surface so the finish coats bond properly and do not peel. We mist coat every new plaster and board surface before the finish coats.

Can you take on large developments?

Yes. We run several teams at once and phase work block by block or plot by plot, so we can keep up with a build programme and scale up for busy periods.

Do you decorate show homes?

Yes. Show homes get our best finishing team, any feature colours or wallpaper the interior designer specifies, and a fixed handover date before your launch.
