Who we work for
Commercial painters and decorating contractors in London
Pro Plaster and Paint are commercial painters in London working as a painting and decorating subcontractor for main contractors, fit-out firms and developers. Our operatives are directly employed, not agency labour, and every package has a supervisor on site, so the team you meet at pre-start is the team that finishes the job.
As well as commercial painting we handle plastering, spray finishing and floor coatings, which means fewer trades to manage and one contract for the finishes.

Hear it from a main contractor
Jamie Mills of Signature Build on working with our team across his building projects.

“Not only have they delivered a wonderful end product… but they also give an exceptional service.”
Read the transcript: Jamie Mills
My name is Jamie Mills, and I'm the owner and managing director of Signature Build. We've used Pro Plaster and Paint on a number of our projects over the last six months, and I'm happy to stand here today and give the guys Harry and Steven and the rest of the team a glowing testimonial, because not only have they delivered a wonderful end product, which is a fully decorated room at the standards at which we operate, but they also give an exceptional service.
Harry is always a real focus as to how the members of his team speak to the team, speak to the clients, speak to anyone in the project team, how they greet you, how they prepare the space, how they operate when working on a busy site, and how they conduct themselves generally. So that's something I always look out for as a really important indicator of someone who's doing a good job.
On all of our sites and all of our projects, we have subcontractors of various different shapes and sizes. What separates a good contractor to a great contractor is the way in which they collaborate, the way in which they communicate, and most importantly, the end product that they deliver.
And I've got no hesitation in recommending Pro Plaster and Paint, Harry, Steven and the team, in all the work that they've done for us, and I gladly would recommend them to other contractors, friends and family. So if you're thinking of using Pro Plaster and Paint, don't hesitate. Get in touch.
FAQ
Questions about our commercial painting services
Do you work as a painting subcontractor for main contractors?
Yes, most of our commercial work is subcontract painting and decorating for Tier 1 and Tier 2 main contractors, fit-out firms and developers. We can price labour only or supply and fix, from a single floor to a full decorating package, and work to your programme, site rules and paperwork.
Are you CIS registered and Constructionline approved?
Yes. We are registered under the HMRC Construction Industry Scheme, approved on Constructionline and hold £5m public liability and employer’s liability insurance. Certificates are sent with your pre-qualification pack or on request. See our health and safety page for details.
How quickly can you provide RAMS and start on site?
Job-specific risk assessments and method statements, COSHH assessments and product data sheets are usually issued within two working days of an order. Start dates depend on the size of the package, but we can often mobilise a team within one to two weeks.
Can you work nights, weekends and in live buildings?
Yes. Out-of-hours decorating is a large part of our work: evenings and weekends in occupied offices, overnight in shops, between services in restaurants and during the holidays in schools. Our Bishopsgate project covered six floors of a live office building over seven weekends.
Do you paint fire doors?
Yes. Fire door painting follows the door manufacturer’s guidance and the certification on the door: we keep paint off intumescent strips, smoke seals, hinges and closers, avoid building up thick layers, and use tested intumescent coatings where the specification calls for them. We record the products used for your O&M manual. Read our guide to painting fire doors.
Do you decorate communal areas in apartment blocks?
Yes. We paint communal hallways, stairwells, entrances and car parks for managing agents, freeholders and residents’ associations, working in phases so the building stays open and safe for residents. We provide notices for residents and work around lift bookings and quiet hours.
How are commercial painting contracts priced?
We price from drawings, a specification or a site visit, either as a lump sum, against a schedule of rates or per plot on new builds. Every quote lists what is included, the paint system and the number of operatives, so it is easy to compare with other painting contractors.
Which areas do your commercial decorators cover?
Our commercial decorators work across London, including the City, Canary Wharf, the West End and south-west and west London, plus Surrey and the Home Counties. We take on larger packages further afield by arrangement. See all the areas we cover.
